EL Wire
We generally always have these lengths of EL WIre in Stock:

Other custom legths can be arranged for you but it is unlikely they will be sent out the same day.
The EL Wire comes in these thicknesses
1.3mm ‘Angel Hair’ is useful for weaving into clothes
2.3mm standard wire
3.2mm high brightness wire is good for most aplications, is strong and durable
5mm wire is good if the wire is going to be outdoors for long periods as the extra thickness shields the glowing phosphor from sunlight causing UV damage
EL Tape
EL Panels are paper thin glowing sheets around 300 microns thick – that is 1/3 of a millimeter!
It is exceptionally bright and can be bent and cut.
El Tape and EL Panels are a fairly new technology and we try to keep as wide a range as possible.

These are a special type of Driver that will make the EL Wire or EL Tape glow in patterns or to the beat of the music
Drivers / Inverters
All EL Wire needs an Inverter/Driver to power it.
These inverters start with 3Volts (for a 2 X AA battery inverter) or a 12Volt power supply and then push the voltage up to around 100Volts that makes the Electroluminescent Phosphor in the wire glow brightly.
(100Volts sounds high but the current is very low so it is not dangerous)
The glow doesn’t take any power and the wire itself just holds the charge like a capacitor
This is why the quality of your Driver/Inverter is important, as it is mainly the Inverter converting 12volts up to 100Volts that uses power

This listing is for a 12v inverter which will run up to 15meters of EL neon glow wire
This Driver/Inverter has crocodile clips to make it easily atach to a 12v battery
The inverter has 3 settings:

12V Inverter for EL Wire
This is a 12v driver (with car-lighter attachment) which will run up to 15meters of EL wire or 400 squ cm of EL Tape
THe Car Lighter attachment can be cut off and directly wired into the 12v power system in a car
The driver has 3 settings:
Off, On or Flashing
The driver has a standard EL wire connector making it able to quickly switch between different coloured wire or add a splitter and have several strands of wire – simply clip in and out the connector

Wth some care, the EL wire can be attached to speaker wire to make patterns or extend the wire over gaps where it isnt needed
Joining tape and tubing for re-attaching the wire are available from this store
- this is if you want to cut the EL wire and rejoin it or perhaps attach some wire to a different inverter
Cutting the wire into the length you choose is simple… but rejoining it takes care and attention.
You will also definitely need some wirestrippers
You can happily use the joining tape and heatshrink tubing for a decent join but if the joint is likely to encounter stress (eg if it is threaded into clothes that will then be bent and jostle) or if the join may be hard to reach (eg behind a panel in a car) then we would advise soldering to avoid future hassle

This listing is for a 240v inverter which will run between 15 and 40 meters of EL neon glow wire
It can run less wire and will do so VERY brightly but the lifespan of the wire will be reduced as it is being overpowered
There is a mains plug (comes as a UK 3 pin plug – but also available with European 2 pin plug)
It has a metre long wire on it that plugs into the inverter box (8cm X 6cm X 3.2cm)
The inverter has 4 settings:

The tape is just 350 microns thick – that is 1/3rd of a millimeter!
Sticky back velcro is supplied that is the exact width of the EL Tape – be careful putting it on as that glue is VERY sticky

Wth some care, the EL wire can be attached to speaker wire to make patterns or extend the wire over gaps where it isnt needed
Joining tape and tubing for re-attaching the wire are available from this store
- this is if you want to cut the EL wire and rejoin it or perhaps attach some wire to a different inverter
Cutting the wire into the length you choose is simple… but rejoining it takes care and attention.
You will also definitely need some wirestrippers
You can happily use the joining tape and heatshrink tubing for a decent join but if the joint is likely to encounter stress (eg if it is threaded into clothes that will then be bent and jostle) or if the join may be hard to reach (eg behind a panel in a car) then we would advise soldering to avoid future hassle

The Splitter is 40cm long in total,

The third has a 2-way splitter attached that runs round the back to clip into the pair of EL Sacral pieces
A 1.2metre extender wire is also provided – this may not be needed but gives you more options of where the driver is kept on your body
The three pieces of EL Tape that run down the leg are:
1) TRON BOOT
This futuristic piece of footwear is designed to run down the ankle and wrap around the ankle and is a great finishing touch to any tron costume (these are also available in our store in white, and orange)
2) KNEE JOINT
Running up from the boot piece, this piece of EL Tape takes an angle round the knee, exactly as in the original costumes
This has been made to largest size and will not fit everyone so it has been designed so you can just snip it down to the right size for you
That’s right, it really is as easy as just cutting the unwanted part off either or both ends (sealing the cut with sellotape, glue or clear nail varnish is highly recommended)
3) 2cm x 25cm EL Tape
Another piece that can be cut to size is this straight piece of EL Tape that runs from the Knee Joint up to join the top half of the costume

This pair of pieces sits at the base of the spine and i have to say looks pretty awesome

The tape is just 350 microns thick – that is 1/3rd of a millimeter!
Sticky back velcro is supplied that is the exact width of the EL Tape – be careful putting it on as that glue is VERY sticky
You must sew the other part of the velcro onto the costume making it very convenient to attach and remove
Of course you don’t need to use the velcro, fix it any way you choose

This is the latest breakthrough in helping people create their own glowing designs out of super-thin EL Panel – EL panel is much thinner than a credit card (just 1/3mm thick) and glows beautifully.
This cuttable A5 panel is available in these colours:

To use this Panel, the first thing you must really think through is your design
If you have a pretty good idea what you want to make then you should decide whether you have to use this cuttable panel, or whether you can use one of our standard EL panels
If you simply have to have your EL shapes cut out then this cuttable panel is the thing for you
The shapes you cut will still need a driver/inverter to power them so you will need to decide on the best driver for you:

Ladies and/or Gentlemen may I please present a Electroluminescent Panel and Driver/Inverter for the Spektrum controllers DX6i and DX7.
For the DX7 you must trim a little off the bottom of this panel (use sharp scissors and just cut it to shape)
For the DX6i you must cut a little off the end of the Panel
(For other models you must measure the screen size to see if it will fit)
The Panel size is 85mm x 55mm with a lit area of 80mm x 50mm
The driver should be run straight off the device you are backlighting.

These tiny EL Panels are really handy and can have so many different uses. They run off any EL Driver and you can ‘daisy chain’ splitters to have as many as you want lit up.

You can happily use the joining tape and heatshrink tubing supplied for a decent join but if the joint is likely to encounter stress (eg if it is threaded into clothes that will then be bent and jostle) or if the join may be hard to reach (eg behind a panel in a car) then we would advise soldering to avoid future hassle

Here we have some metre length, with a 3.2mm diameter, electroluminescent glow wire that has two cores running though the middle.
The Dual Cores obviously produce a brighter glow but there is another bonus; you can power this wire by a driver that is only supposed to power EL Wire that is double its length.
eg - a 3 metre Double Core EL Wire could be powered by a standard EL Driver that is for 6 metres of wire.
So you could use this wire with a mains driver that is for 5-15metres of wire – This makes it glow much brighter!

Press the red button and the EL Wire will be on continuous.
Press the red button a second time and the EL Wire will start to flash.
PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the red button a third time and the blink rate will slowly increase
The Blink rate will go up to a fast strobe and then back down to a slow 2-second blink and then again back up to the strobe speed for as long as you hold the button down
When you release the button, the unit will then keep that blink rate as the default flashing speed (until you chose to change it again by keeping the button held down)
If you don’t hold the button down on the third press it will simply switch it off

‘ANGEL HAIR’ EL WIRE
This thin but very bright EL Wire gives an amzing effect as it runs from the hoop near the collar, over the shoulder, doen the back and round the waist where it meets the other EL Hoop
SPLITTERS
This is how we recommend using the splitters:
The end connector from both 40cm tapes, and the two ‘collar’ Hoops all connect to a 4-way splitter
The connectors from the Hoops on the waist and the end of the angel hair wire all connect up to a 4-way splitter
The 4-way splitters then connect up to the 2-way splitter and that connects to the driver – simple!

Here we have a large and powerful EL Driver that is sealed within a waterproof casing – reducing the whistle while also making it water-resistant.
This is a 12v driver (with crocodile clips) which will run between 3 to 15 meters of EL neon glow wire or 150 – 400 square metres of EL Tape or EL Panel.
The driver DOES NOT have an on/off switch or a blinking function
But does have two integral screw fixing points on either side of it so it can be fastened down.
It has a water-tight seal all round it including where the wires come in and out of it. Attached in a sensible place it should withstand all types of weather.

Cutting the wire into the length you choose is simple… but rejoining it takes care and attention.
You will also definitely need some wirestrippers.
You can happily use the joining tape and heatshrink tubing supplied for a decent join but if the joint is likely to encounter stress (eg if it is threaded into clothes that will then be bent and jostle) or if the join may be hard to reach (eg behind a panel in a car) then we would advise soldering to avoid future hassle.

One of these channels has a 2-way splitter attached that runs round the back to clip into the pair of EL Sacral pieces
The other two channels have a special ‘3 way Small Midi and Long’ splitter attached to them that run down each leg
These SML splitters have:
one Short channel that plugs to the 25cm Tape.
Then the Middle channel plugs into the Knee Joint section
The Long channel goes down to the Shin to plug into the Double Hoop

This El Tape comes with a standard connector so simply plugs into any EL driver – this makes it easy to change between coloured wire on one driver

With this set you get:
2 pieces of 3cm X 5cm EL Panel for the Iron Man eyes in a choice of colours
A 10cm diameter round Triangle EL Panel for the Arc Reactor
A 4xAAA battery EL Driver with side switch to power the EL panels
2 X 2-way splitters help the panels fit the costume.
The suggested setup is:
The Driver is held on the body near the chest
One 2-way-splitter comes out and one channel goes off to the triangle panel acting as the Arc Reactor near the chest
The other channel has a second two way splitter going off to the helmet to power the 3cmX5cm EL Panels for the eyes
These EL Panels are NOT SEE-THRU so you must design the eye piece to be above or below the actual eye
By having it on a second 2-way-splitter it makes it easier to unplug and remove the helmet – if it all runs off a 3-way-splitter, which it could, it would not be so easy to unplug the head mask
The kit does not include the mask or and its best to put a design over the glowing Arc Reactor – apart from that, the whole kit is ready to use -

12cm EL CURVE
Here we have a Tron Double Hoop shape that is 15cm long made from Electroluminescent Tape.
The First Hoop is 6cm Wide – the same as our single EL Hoops. The End hoop is just 4cm Wide

This Double Hoop has been designed to help you achieve a realistic Tron costume.

These Hooks are really useful for installing EL Wire in a house or in a car
They have a very agressive glue on the back so will strongly adhere to most clean surfaces
These hooks are a welcome addition to our stock of useful EL Stuff – it has taken a year to find replacements for the last EL Holders we supplied for a short while before realising they just weren’t good enough

This is a really EL starter set. It is versatile as you can have three different strands of EL Wire to work with.

This is a really neat little EL Unit.
It is about the same size as a standard EL Driver for 3m of EL Wire (9cm x 3cm x 2.5cm) but it has 3 outputs which sequence in a 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3… pattern
There is a dial on the side which lets you adjust the speed of this pattern from the slowest (0.7sec) right up until the wires are strobing so fast they appear constant.
The mode button also allows the EL Wires to be on constantly if you prefer
3 X 2 way splitters attached to each channel allows 6 of these 50cm EL Wires to be lit up by this funky EL Driver
The EL Wires can be any combination of these colours:

It is easier to buy it from us with the connectors attached but if you need to, then with some care, the EL wire can be attached to speaker wire to make patterns or extend the wire over gaps where it isn’t needed.
